Originally from Stone Mountain, Georgia, Sarah graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Georgia with her undergraduate degree in Middle School Education. After studying abroad at Oxford University in Oxford, England, Sarah returned back to Athens and taught middle school for four years.
After leaving her teaching career in Oconee County, Sarah joined a national brokerage firm and was named their Newly Licensed Agent of the Year for 2003. Sarah, Christy and Stephanie left the firm to form CJ&L in 2005. Sarah obtained her broker’s license in 2006 and has acted as managing broker of Chastain, Jenkins, and Leathers since.
Sarah has served as a member of the public relations committee, nominating committee, education committee, and board of directors for the Athens Area Association of Realtors. She has volunteered for Make A Wish Foundation and fundraised for World of Wonder playground and March of Dimes. She currently serves as District 5 representative and the Vice President of the Clarke County Board of Education, as well as chairman of the policy committee and vice-chair of the property committee for the BOE. She is a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church and serves as a member of the 1919 young professional organization for Athens Regional Medical Center. She resides in the historic Boulevard neighborhood in Athens with her husband, builder/developer Tom Ellis, and their three children and dog. Sarah is a member of the Athens Country Club and the Boulevard Neighborhood Association.
